Besides @adrian_ych concerns about the RAID configuration, bear in mind that according to the specs: Dell PowerEdge RAID Controller 12 User’s Guide PERC H965i Adapter, PERC H965i Front, PERC H965i MX, and PERC H965e Adapter | Dell US, without a SAS expander, that card is limited to 16 drives. So you might be limited anyway. Also, what is your expected level of support and criticality?, having 4 drives collecting dust “just in case”, sounds a bit too much.
